Alive & thriving..

...sort of.

My surgery took twice as long as expected but was successful in the end-phew!

My recovery is going well and I left hospital yesterday and endured the 3.5 hour drive home. I get weary easily at the moment and am on restricted movement for another 5 weeks..... boredom central awaits! :)

  1. Yeah but how good that it has worked out well! Do you have a neck brace on?

    1. I have a soft collar which I have to wear if I am doing any "sustained activity"-like walking for more than 5 minutes or going for a drive longer than 5 minutes.

I don't have to wear it if I am sitting or laying down with my neck supported by cushions/pillows.

I am thrilled with how the surgery has totally removed the pressure on my spinal cord-which is what was causing the pain. The only pain I have is related to the surgery itself. :)

  2. I am so pleased that the surgery went well. I know it will be hard to rest especially if lying down bothers your neck. I have a neck injury from my nursing days and sometimes it is hard to get comfortable so I hope you don't experience too much discomfort during your recovery.

    1. Lying down is fine if I am in the correct position Chel. The artificial disk is working a treat...the worst pain at the moment is actually due to the muscle spasms across my back & shoulders-which have been caused by the position I had to be in for the surgery ( flat on my back with neck extended backwards).

The fatigue will start to diminish shortly I'm sure.

Also very happy to hear you've tried the turkish delight receipe!!! I often wonder if people actually try my recipes and it's always great when i find out they do. I LOVE turkish delight too.

    1. Hello there Trishie!

That recipe was too easy! Hubby & I enjoyed far too much Turkish delight yesterday. :)

I'm getting there post surgery- trying to find a balance between being somewhat active and not overdoing it!
