Sunday's harvest:broccoli, small cauliflower, young cabbage, snowpeas and eggs.
This mornings forage: Cauliflower,4 eggs, kale, asparagus & one shallot
Budget dinner when two of the grandsons were here on Friday night consisted of beef & vege casserole topped with herby cheese dumplings.....grandson #2 went home and told his Dad that I fed them ducklings!
Yes it does feel good to go out to the garden and pick food to eat with a meal. It just tastes so much better.
ReplyDeleteThat casserole looks yum Deezy! Love the grandies comment about ducklings, they are just so cute sometimes...we were lucky to have our grandson sleep over last night. I got to pack his lunch and take him off to school this morning...ahhh the simple pleasures :)
Isn't it much less stress getting a grandchild off to school than one of your own children? :D
DeleteDeezy, it has been hot up here in SE Qld and my broccoli is now flowering! I did freeze some a while back though thankfully. I will have to pick my last few cabbages as the bugs are getting into them. It looks like we will have a fair amount of sauerkraut to get through soon :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still to try making sauerkraut- it is on the to do list. :)
DeleteLove the funny things small children say!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing well in your vege patch, Deezy.
Thanks Kim- actually there is only about 25% of it planted at the moment...big plans for the summer though!
DeleteWhat a harvest, looks so beautiful and fresh!
